The incidence of prediabetes and diabetes is increasing at an alarming rate all over the world.
HALF of American adults 18 years old or older have either diabetes (12%) or prediabetes (34%).
Nearly half (48 %) of the US elderly have prediabetes and 25% have diabetes (CDC, 2015).
Majority of people with prediabetes are not aware of having the disease.
Can we prevent diabetes? “Yes!” Three randomized clinical trials showed that type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed among people with prediabetes or who are at risk of diabetes through lifestyle changes including diet, exercise, and weight loss. Many people with diabetes have told me “I had diabetes education classes but I didn’t understand.” Our workshop participants often told me “Now I know what to do for my diabetes”
